Princess Eyes II
My little princess did get her new glasses. She looks soooo cute. It’s funny that we named her after my grandmother, who also started using glasses when she was a child. Now she looks even more like her great-granny, whom we call Tanty. It has been hard though. Since she only needs the glasses to keep her eyes aligned and not for vision, she doesn’t want to wear them because she doesn’t notice any difference. There has been much crying on her part and tantrums when she throws them on the floor—luckily they are insured and kiddie proof! Something encouraging though happened when we went to the mall the other day. There was a little girl my daughter’s age who was also wearing glasses. I overheard her mother commenting on my daughter’s glasses. We began to talk and realized that they both had the same issue with their eyes. Like my daughter, this woman’s daughter also had tantrums and had been going through an adjustment period. It was comforting to talk to someone who had the same concerns and fears that I had. If any of you have a similar story and creative ways of dealing with these issues, please share them!
