Cars 2

Cars 2 takes us on another saga with Lightning McQueen and his best friend Tow Mater as they enter the first-ever World Grand Prix to determine the world’s fastest car.  In this James Bond-like film, Tow Mater gets to take the lead role as he gets caught up in an adventure of his own.  Filled with nifty gadgets and spyware, Cars 2 takes us on an exciting journey in which “Mater” helps defeat a villain attempting to take over the world.  Because of its espionage theme, the plot definitely went over the heads of my four-year old and two-year old.  Cars 2 was more fun for my husband and... Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stanger Tides

Devilishly entertaining!  Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,  starring Johnny Depp and his ruthless love interest Penélope Cruz, delivered.  In this action-packed adventure, in which Depp returns to his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow, Captain Jack is on a quest to find the Fountain of Youth.  Cruz’s character, Angelica, entangles Jack Sparrow in her dangerous web of lies, and he ends up on the ship of the legendary Blackbeard.  Not knowing who to fear more, Blackbeard or Angelica, Sparrow sails to a world full of vampire mermaids and other interesting characters in his quest for the Fountain of Youth.  Pirates of the Caribbean : On Stranger Tides... Kung Fu Panda 2

HILARIOUS!  An absolute must-see! Kung Fu Panda 2 takes you on an adventurous ride with Po, the Dragon Warrior, who sets out on a journey of justice against Lord Shen, who threatens to destroy kung  fu.  Po, along with his crew—the Furious Five—will have you laughing to the point of tears.  The action-packed fighting scenes actually make this one of the few animated films worth seeing in 3D.  My advice: grab the family and go!  Kung Fu Panda 2 gets a 5-star rating. Rio The Movie

Rio The Movie takes you on an adventure in which you follow Blu, a domesticated macaw, from Minnesota to Rio de Janeiro  and back in his search to connect with the last remaining female in his species, Jewel.  The film is filled with toe-tapping songs that even got my two-year old  grooving.  The colors are as bright and spectacular as the colors of carnival.  Also, you walk away with a valuable lesson: the best way to show love to wild creatures is to leave them as they should be– wild and free!  I give this  latest hit from the creators of Ice Age a 4 rating.  Your family will definitely... Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules

Cute, funny, and perfect family entertainment describes the latest Diary of a Wimpy Kid sequel, Rodrick Rules.  Picking a movie that the whole family can enjoy can be a difficult task, especially when you have children of different age groups.  This weekend my sister Sue and her brood joined me and my children on a family outing to the theater.  There were five kids in all, ages ranging from 2 to 11.  The  story of Rodrick Rules, although stereotypical and fairly predictable, was the perfect fit.  In the movie,  Wimpy Greg Heffley (Zachary Gordon), now in seventh grade, thinks he has mastered middle school and gotten rid of the... Rango

I went to see this box office hit with my children, mother, grandmother, and aunt. And yes, it lived up to its hype, for the most part. It was clever, funny, and filled with action. Rango is a story about an unlikely hero, an ordinary chameleon that conquered the lawless spirit of the old west and restored faith in humanity. The film uses a lot of metaphors, which seemed to fly over my six year old’s head. It also has some suggestive language that didn’t get past my two eldest. My 9 year old son in particular seemed to get a kick out of the references. All in all,... Read On

House of Anubis

A VERY popular series on Nickelodeon, House of Anubis recently ended its first season.  House of Anubis is a drama/mystery/romance show.  In fact, it’s one of my favorite shows! This show is about eight students: Nina Martin, Fabian Rutter, Amber Millington, Patricia Williamson, Alfred “Alfie” Lewis, Jerome Clarke, Mick Campbell, and Mara Jaffray, who are attended a boarding school in the United Kingdom called Anubis School (a.k.a. House of Anubis). In the first episode, Joy Mercer (Klariza Klayton), a popular girl, disappears the same day Nina Martin (Nathalia Ramos), the main character, arrives.  Nina meets a senior citizen named Sarah Frobisher-Smythe, who lived in the Anubis House decades ago. ...
